[LOG] Desert Skirmish (Part 2)

 Whatever modifications Bian made to the Gelgoog, they were apparently good ones. Shin's Newtype senses let him know danger is coming even before the blast of yellow comes shrieking towards him; he hurls the Gelgoog Jager to one side, hitting the sand a distance to the left.
 This one's a fighter, he observes in the back of his mind. Good - all the better when the aliens come.
 The Gelgoog Jager is about half the height of the Vysaga, being a real robot and all, but that doesn't seem to stop the White Wolf. Again he charges into battle - or so it seems. The speed of his acceleration leaves him pushed back in his seat, muscles steeled against the force brought down upon him. Leaving a few more after-images, the Gelgoog Jager zigs to one side, then zags to the other, clouds of sand thrown up around it to obscure visibility further -
 It's scarcely the space of a second before he closes with the Vysaga, meeting it sword for sword. He strikes quickly, slashing the beam saber in a short cut aimed to take it under its dominant arm, then whirling the double-bladed weapon in a dizzying, propellor-like array of strikes that would make mincemeat of the chest armour of any lesser robot. "You have your mission," he grates, "but mine is more important!"

The Gurren kept pushing, listening to Rei's words. "Not..." No. Char. He was a friendly guy. Lalah...Lalah was one of the nicest girls who ever lived. No they were about as human as you could get. Maybe alittle brighter than usual. The blue haired man recalls something in Leeron's eyes the first they saw the Zeon in action. Those questioning eyes. Like he was staring at people alien to them. Kamina growled under his breath, letting the Gurren to lax for a moment. "No...Even if it is your duty...Even if we are enemies right now, don't.you.ever. SPEAK ABOUT THEM THAT WAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!" The Gurren charged the Evangelion at full force attempting to cleave it in two like a certain ally of his would be proud of.

Lamia never knew a life where she wasn't a fighter, it was being human that she was having the most trouble with.
 
 She ignores the damage registering in her biocomputers. FLUID LEAKING. NOT GOOD. If she had a Haro for a brain, that would be what the warning would sound like, but all she does is shut off her pain receptors to concentrate. This unit was unpredictable. And, the gall of the woman, she doesn't even dignify Shin's comment with a response.
 
 Instead, she patches into a different transmission. "Kyosuke-chuui, your unit is damaged - please disengage from the skirmish immediately." She isn't one to order a superior officer to go save his own ass, but she can try and reason with him at least.
 
 She continues pushing back, her eyes moving from the side to another, calculating the possible paths and selecting the right one. She whirls her sword around to parry the beam sword with her own, charged one, sparks and flame and heat flying as each blade crashes against one another. As it moves closer, she pushes back, slamming the tip of her sword in the middle of Shin's blade and uses that to push her away, before he cuts her open like a body on an autopsy table.
 
 As she flies back, she throws several, mech-sized kunai at the white wolf. This will explode on impact. God...those things were -dangerous-.
 
 o O (He's good.)
 
 Her sword archs again in preparedness.
 
 o O (We'll see what his measure truly is.)

[OOC] Shin Matsunaga says, "If Lamia had a Haro for a brain, we would all die of laughter. 'KYOSUKE. HARO, KYOSUKE. HARO GENKI. *bouncebounce*'"
[OOC] Kyosuke Nanbu would want to die.
[OOC] Kamina says, "...I'd want her on my team with her *bouncebounce*"
[OOC] Rei Ayanami says, "She'd be floating around. They might slap her in the face on accident."

The sword comes towards the narrow waist of the Evangelion - a probable killing blow. Then the two hands came up...

The sky seems to darken, with a red tinge, as wind picks up from the raw repulsion of the developing A.T. Field. "Full power, A.T. Field," Rei intones almost flatly, the shimmering wave of octagonal light coming into existence, taking that cleaving strike... stopping it, finally, a mere several inches from the Evangelion's body. The light stays there, blowing sand in all directions AWAY from the Evangelion --

And then it fades, the Eva stepping back. Rei slumps in her seat, breathing heavily, looking up through her bangs towards nothing (or possibly Kamina). "They... have killed entire colonies, for the sake of their power... gas weapons, against civilians..."

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Shin..."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "She's lying...right?"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Kamina?"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "...There were certain incidents in the past, yes. We've put them behind us."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Zeon no longer resorts to those tactics."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Tch...I.."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Atleast you fessed up to it."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "I can atleast respect you for that."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "I'm sorry you had to find out this way. If it helps, I opposed using colony drops."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "It does...I can't do this if I don't believe in you guys."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Thank you. --How're you holding up?"

 Retreat? In his moment of...well, alright, there's no big triumph here to make, and even if there was he could tell that with busted Claymores the Alteisen was a bit hampered, but he was not going to flee that easily.

 He glances toward the EVA-00, which seems to be holding it's own, before looking back at the Gelgoog. The rear boosters snap open, and he dashes forward...it's nuts, he's seen how fast that mech was moving with the images and all, but that's fine by him: He has PLAN.

The crimson mech comes toward the Gelgoog, clearly going for a horn assault by the charging posture...but at the last minute it boosts up, sending a cloud of sand all around, actually FLIPPING in the air and seemingly coming down for a Gespenst MkIII kick...but it's not MADE for kickings, what gives?

The only hint may have been the transmission Kyosuke did before dashing. "Lamia. I'm going to create an opening, follow my lead in five." Five seconds being the time it took him to close in and make that cloud...

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Gurren can handle her! I'll keep fighting until the end!"

"Y, you're lying! Char wouldn't..." Kamina grits his teeth as the Gurren remains stationary. "They are lying to you. People who do that...People don't do that against other people." People don't act like Furries. Those fucking furries killed people like that. No. He listens to the radio in shock. Listening to Shin explain. He admitted it and seemed to find it just as deplorable as he did. People did this. No. How?! Damnit. The blue haired man shuts his red eyes tight, grinding his teeth. He opens his eyes and stares at the Eva with narrowed slits. "Even...if that was then...Right now, they have a goal which I gotta get behind. Even if it is for alittle while...I believe in Shin! And I believe in Char! So you just have to ask yourself...WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!" The Gurren charged once again, attempting to send its left left into the Evangelion and knock it over again.

 (This woman,) Shin reflects, (is good.) His veteran edge proves advantageous indeed; his laser sword clashes with Lamia's much bigger weapon, the burning orange-red blade reflecting a little, at least until the Vysaga ghosts back and lets fly with its array of energized kunai. Fortunately Matsunaga has a shield on HIS mech, and he brings it to the fore. The exploding kunai hit its scarred white face, and the metal crumples and vapourizes away, ablative armour collapsing under the force of the assault. The shield is rendered useless by the kunai - and worse yet, shrapnel skitters across the armour behind it, briefly jamming the right arm. Snorting, Matsunaga pulls the Jager back, Tesla drive thrown into the backward leap, before he comes down on both feet in the sand.
 Quickly he ejects the shield, dropping the slagged chunk of metal to the sand. He readies the beam rifle again, preparing to attack -
 Until the Alteisen comes right out of frigging NOWHERE. "Back for more, huh," Shin mutters to himself, turning to fire a few shots towards Kyosuke and Lamia alike. And then the sand's kicked up, and the fire stops.
 The cloud effectively eliminates visual and computer sighting; Shin's left to fly by his Newtype senses, relying on them for his defense. He swiftly switches the rifle to his left hand, beam saber in the right, prepared to strike upwards, ready to impale Kyosuke on the laser blade when he descends....

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein chuckles.  "I am glad to hear you have such enthusiasm, Kamina."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Hm. This woman is a fierce fighter."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Heh. Good to hear you, Elzam."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Fortunately Dr. Bian's tuning to the Gelgoog is working out perfectly. --?!"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Eh?! You're fighting a woman too?! Tch, What are their men cowards?! Even if these are their best fighters, they should atleast show up and not hide behind them. Tch."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "Do not underestimate the women in that group.  They are ever bit as daring and couragous as the men."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "...and their leader has a tendency to recruit women whenever possible."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Heh. I don't under estimate anyone. The woman I'm fighting now is better than the guy I fought last time."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "If I didn't respect this girl, I wouldn't have disengaged Gurren Lagann to fight her one on one."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Who the hell is their Leader anyway? That guy who killed Lalah?"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "No.  He..."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga distractedly, "Roy Fokker."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "Let us just say he is not one who is present at battle very often.  He uses that transforming fighter plane."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Well said."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "In many ways, the man who held the spirit of leadership for the Black Sheep joined us."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Doesn't sound like much of a man."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Sangar?"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "And thus, they must discover their own inititive and leadership."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein chuckles.  "My old friend undestands what is coming - and that all men are mortal."
 

"I am I," Rei answers, "not you."

COUNTER

The kick comes towards EVA-00, and Rei does not attempt to dodge it, instead applying something she learned in gym class. She enormous foot rises up in the air as the Gurren flings itself - fine! EVA-00's hands grasp the leg, twisting suddenly to redirect that motion and send the Gurren tumbling, a hundred yards or more, easily, into the sandy surroundings.

Rei takes the moment to turn and recover the Tesla generator. The Evangelion kneels - /facing towards/ where the Gurren had been thrown, which does put the battle against Shin at her left flank - as both arms bend behind it with double-jointed ease, lowering the slightly dusty plug back into place as best as can be accomplished.

Rei also makes a brief report to the other Black Sheep.

Mutual respect is hidden behind the armor - and even if she had known it, Lamia would prefer for it to stay that way. In the end, they were all still on opposite sides of the line. And then, there's the rifle. She had to act fast. She pushes away, and lifts her sword in the air....
 
 The transmission blasts from her radio, Kyosuke's voice crackling through it. "Understood," she says, and gets ready for the opening. She moves back further, and around, angling the Vysaga to better view what's going on. She taps in the command to switch to thermal, considering her normal vision is obscured, at present, by the cloud that Kyosuke made.
 
 And then she realizes they had been in this position before, with the sand and dust swirling around them...
 
 Yes.
 
 The shots punch through the Vysaga's armor, denting some, putting hole in others. The damage registers, but not enough to bring it down. Not yet.

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Makes perfect sense. Let them toughen up for whats comin'"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Elzam von Branstein says, "I still fear they may break under the strain, but it will take longer now."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga distractedly, "That's why the move on the SDF-1 is so important. We'll show them that this battle will come even to their doorstep unless they fight."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "TCH ARGH!!"

 The position he's in is very disadvantageous. He knows he's decending toward impossible-to-dodge impalement, but Kyosuke has no intention to go that low: The posture is a kick, but it's a kick that will never connect. The thrusters remain off for a moment as he has full attention of the Wolf, and then blaze again before it gets too low. The foot comes in reach of the Saber, and the autocannon is pointed down.

"You lost your shield." is all the ATX pilot has to say, going to 'Ammunition Discharge' mode for the weapon. It's not strong, but it is a pummeling at close range, and he's not doing this thinking that he'll take the Gelgoog down anyway...

His cards are elsewhere.

The Gurren flies backward as Unit 00 suddenly demonstraits it's Kung fu power. "TCH ARGH!!" Kamina yells out as feels some of the now loose controls cutting into his shoulder. The Gurren struggles to get up,still holding his sword/sunglasses still. Cue the dramatic music. "You might be you...But WHO THE HELL DO YOU..."

The sunglasses are thrown spinning quickly toward Unit 00.

"THINK..." The sunglasses suddenly separate into two identical pieces spinning around Unit 00 toward the Telsa driver.

"...I AM!?!?!?!" Kamina grins widely raising his fist toward his opponent, signalling he is still ready to fight her.

 In truth Shin had been half-expecting the Vysaga to jump into the fray from here. He waits for Kyosuke to land on the sword -
 And instead gets a blast of intense autocannon fire, which rips into the Gelgoog Jager's shoulders and torso at short range. The armour does manage to absorb some of the volley, but still more bullets strike circuits and routers, and sparks fly, smoke rising into the dissipating sand cloud.
 Shin growls over the shriek of warning lights, momentarily angry at his own failure to anticipate this new trick. It passes in a split second. "That's fine. I'll take something else in exchange."
 Sand again kicks up around the Gelgoog as its thrusters heat up. The beam saber slices through the sandy air, a series of fast precision strikes shooting out towards the waist of the hovering Alteisen - aiming to cut off its right leg, no doubt as a souvenir. Then it takes to the air, boosting high and back, before coming down a distance away. Whether it will do so with one of the Alteisen's legs in hand or not is all up to Kyosuke's piloting.

 
The jury-rigged engine on the back of the Evangelion was not really designed to be sitting out in the open. They probably hoped that the AT Field would protect it, but the AT Field seems to be having a bad day. The blades bite into it --

The Evangelion is sent staggering forwards as there is an enormous chain reaction explosion on its back; Rei screams, briefly, as the shock of it trembles through the Entry Plug. The timer restarts - at five minutes, at least.

Rei's face turns again towards the Gurren. "Who, are you," she asks, finally. She thinks, perhaps, that she's being baited.

The Evangelion also reaches down for one of the wrecked-but-previously-under-repair Zakus.

But this is when she interferes.
 
 The opening was there. In the swirling sand and the smoke coming up from the Alt Eisen's cannon fire, it shields her approach...for just a moment. But just as the Alt Eisen is pummeling the White Wolf, the Vysaga tears out of the smoke in a swirl of tattered cape, and a flash of those seemingly demonic, red eyes, from underneath the Alt Eisen.
 
 She uses the right shoulder of the mech, shouldering the Alt Eisen and giving him a boost to flip him up, and hopefully enough to get out of the way of Shin's slashes. It would be impossible for the Alt NOT to get damaged just a little bit considering how close it was to Shin's mech, but at least it wouldn't be anywhere near the piloting chamber or the weapons systems, and it would only gash the leg as opposed to taking it off entirely.
 
 And following through, underneath, the sword is up, charged, and Lamia moves to stab it clean, point-first, right into the Gelgoog's torso.

Kamina is almost dumbstruck. She actually asked? "Errr...It's a figure of speech but...I AM LORD KAMINA Of The Gurren Brigade!" The mecha charges forward again, attempting to knock Unit 00's grill off, yo. The red mecha is still somehow functioning despite the raggedness of the outside. Between the right arm being blown off and several places where panels were worn, it was amazing it was still standing. "Now, Who are you?"

The energy blade tears through metal and servos, getting the leg's lower section and damaging the foot systems, but it's not a complete slice. The second blow is much closer to severing the limb, and the third blow...

Does not connect. Using the undamaged leg, the Alteisen boosts off the Vysaga's shoulder, autocannon still blazing as it moves to go on the other side of the sword-wielding Super Robot's attack pattern, kick off the sand using the remain leg and dash toward the other side.

"Sword Stake IMPALE!" shouts the Sheep Ground CO, betraying momentarily that he too suffers from moments of HotBlood Piloting. The repaired Revolver Stake comes for the punch, but unlike when he and Lamia trained against each other...this time, it's not each other they're aiming for, but for someone who may end up in one of the nastiest pincers possible.

 
Rei is worrying somewhat here. She is taking less damage than the Gurren... but the Gurren doesn't have a battery. Does it?

The slam comes up against it again; lacking a 'grill,' EVA-00 doesn't lose its, although it does stagger. "Ayanami - Rei," she says, pressing back again from this improvised bodyslam. EVA-00's head turns downwards, twitching slightly but visibly; Rei's head does much the same. "Designated pilot... Evangelion unit... Zero..."

Perhaps I should call for help, Rei thinks then, seeing the timer hit the 3:30 mark.

 Shin nearly had that leg, too. The White Wolf winds up for another strike at it, but instead finds his viewscreen full of Vysaga. This doesn't seem to deter him - at least until-
  ping
 "God damnit."
 The Vysaga's sword crunches through one side of the Gelgoog's armor, the gigantic piledriver through the other, catching the white machine before it has a chance to dodge. Caught with a member of the ATX Team on either side of him the DC Commander is left with nowhere to go - and certainly no way to dodge the twin blades of death. Armor shreds, circuits sever and spark, and ultimately there's a large explosion that sends plates flying from the torso, disabling an arm and knocking out systems left and right. Shrapnel showers through the cockpit, and Shin roars in anger and pain as he hastily crams his helmet down over his head without even realiving he's doing it, saving himself another set of scars. NOT this time.
 Somehow, some way, he is able to wrench the Gelgoog Jager off of the pair of blades, and with a ragged burst of speed jets back and away from the pair. It's standing, but smoking from two holes in the torso - in fact, one of them is on fire. An internal suppression system activates, but with little headway. The monoeye camera flickers.
 Shin takes stock of the situation. Most of his systems are down, though he can still fly and maneuver. The Gurren's taken heavy damage in its own right.
 He taps the side of his helmet. "White Wolf to Kamina. We're leaving."
 He doesn't bother turning to the general frequency. Merely activating the beam saber, he raises the weapon to the dented helmet of the Gelgoog in an age-old swordsman's salute, a silent sign of respect for Kyosuke and Lamia's teamwork.
 And with that he takes to the air with a sputtering surge of the Tesla drive, setting course away from the battlefield, grey smoke trailing in billows behind.

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "White Wolf to Kamina. We're leaving."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Huh?! Why?!"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "Because there's no sense in either of us getting shot down over a base that's already fallen."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "They won a round. That's all."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Tch..."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina grinds teeth....trying not to go overboard.
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "There'll be another day. I want all of us fit to fight when we hit Macross City."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina Simon says, "Shin. I'll get him! Aniki is kinda hard to get to retreat."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "As you think best. I'm in no condition to support at this point."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina |Simon says, "Y,yes sir."

The Alteisen makes no attempt to pursue, as it stands after unloading the Revolver, watching the Gelgoog's movements like a wounded cat. Even wounded and barely standing, the red mech was going to stare in the eye of the Gelgoog to the end...

An end that will come for no one. While his guard does not lower when he sees a gesture he had seen before with Master Rishu's pupils, Kyosuke is relieved when the Zeon mech blasts to the skies. "Phew."

*CREAK*

"...?" confused face, the ATX pilot wonders what that sound was and quickly realises he's been putting the weight of the mech on the leg Shin just tore open hard. Cracks, servos collapsing, and the entire leg breaks down causing the Alteisen to fall on the side. And this time, it's like a beached whale, with one leg wiggling a little.

"Not. A. Word." says the 'slightly' irritated pilot, before slumping into his chair for a second. "Ayanami, status." Since he can't go on, he might as well check on his original companion, he only got glimpses and glances at her skirmish.

When the Gelgoog pulls away, Lamia slumps on her seat, panting just a little bit as the minor episode of HOT BLOOD PILOT syndrome leaves her systems, leaving it cool, and calm despite the small pool dripping from her seat. But she feels nothing - the advantages of being....well, not exactly normal. The warning beeps were still inside her head, and she knew she was going to turn them back on eventually, a warning system implemented by Lemon to ensure she didn't push herself too hard and shut down in the middle of a mission.
 
 Switching them back on, the pain was...indescribable. But all that escapes from her was a decidedly unfeminine grunt, and a defiant glance towards Shin's mech as it calls for a retreat.
 
 She couldn't help but wonder who he was, watching him salute the both of them before blasting off. She would salute back, if the gesture weren't so unexpected.
 
 But it fit the pattern, she decides. There WAS a purpose to their current clashing after all.
 
 CREAK.
 
 She looks over at the Alteisen as it turns from Big Scarlet Behemoth to Big Scarlet Beached Whale.
 
 A pause.
 
 "You're lame, chuui." Completely oblivious to the double meaning of her obvious statement.

Kamina grins at Unit 00, getting ready for his next attack. Then comes that order. "Huh?! Why?!" Kamina yells into his radio. He could win this. He wasn't going to run again when he had a chance of winning this fight for his team. "Tch....Damnit!" He then hears Simon over the radio, his eyes widening slightly and before he has anything to say about it, the smaller mech jumps into the air and slams down into the roof of Gurren, reforming Gurren Lagann.

 "ANIKI! We have to go before you get yourself killed."

 "SIMON! I'm Not going to turn my back on this fight!!!"

 "Aniki...I'm sorry!" The Lagann suddenly powers up and starts overwriting Gurren's controls after the unit starts to rebuild itself.

 Kamina growls and looks over at Unit 00 one last time. "Oi. Ayanami! You may be my enemy but I think I understand you alittle more now. Until next time."

 Assuming it is not stopped, the Gurren Lagann starts to lift off the ground toward where Shin was retreating to.

[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "Ayanami Rei. Who is she?"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Shin Matsunaga says, "...By our information, one of the pilots of the Leviathans, alongside the Ikari boy. Beyond that... ask Sanger Zonvolt. He knows the individual Sheep better than I."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "I think I get her. We're Brothers of the Soul!"
[Y-Divine Crusaders] The Cosimir says, "OOC: Or just fellow Gainax characters."
[Y-Divine Crusaders] Kamina says, "OOC:Yeah..that too. Rei's even made a cameo in my source."
 

As the Lagann and the Gurren move away, Rei looks up at the rising unit. She watches it for a few seconds - until it gets out of clear range of weapons fire.

Then she reports. "Unit Zero, enemy chased off. Three minutes, six seconds active time remaining -"

EVA-00 crouches down, leaning forwards as it stops moving, likely to conserve on said stored energy. A moment later, it adds, "Hello," possibly for the relatively unfamiliar voice's sake. She can hear you, after all (even if she can't see you - yet).

Kyosuke Nanbu said not a word! He throws a glare at the Vysaga at the comment, but decides to take it only for the broken leg part. The odds that Lamia would show disrespect to an officer are along the odds of Ayanami asking Ray for a romantic date and then a little 'fun' at a hotel later. Not happening. At least, not in his mind.

"Just give me a hand up..." All hostiles on radar were on full retreat, Ayanami reported being alright, the Wolf and the DC-Sunglasses escaped and will be seen again in the future...

"Let's head back. I'll tell the Federation they can come and dismantle what's left." Sure, they could wait, but he didn't want to have to deal with a powered down EVA unit: It's big and seems troublesome to tow back when not in space.

And for the purpose of fast introductions, Kyosuke only adds, "Rei Ayanami, Lamia Loveless, Sheep Air Division XO..." pause, as he reads an email, "CO. Temporarily. Lamia, Rei Ayanami, Eva double-zero pilot."

IT COULD HAPPEN. If there's anything Dr. Ray needs right now, it's love. Vysaga nods, walking over towards the Alt Eisen, reaching down to hoist up the legless unit. ".....forgive me for not having come sooner," Lamia says, scanning the damage. If she knew how to do it, she would've winced. But she doesn't state her reasons for being late, those reasons being 'I was busy being promoted temporarily.'
 
 But the Alt Eisen was HEAVY. She swallows down the pain and hoists the red unit up. To Rei: "It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Rei."
 
 In action anyways. She keeps a firm grip on the Alt Eisen, taking a breath. At least he was still relatively intact. She didn't fail anyone today.

 
Rei does estimating on something for a moment. She could, at least, reach the approximate area of the Gate before the Evangelion shut down.

"Loveless, please cover Unit Zero after equipment shutdown," she says, before the Evangelion seems to spring up and, almost as quickly as it stood, leaps forwards back the way they had originally came. It lands a good distance away, repeating the process - running on sand dunes, of course, is a fool's game.

Her radio still works. "They enjoy establishing bases in this continent," she says a moment later. "It is empty in my home."
